With the national spotlight on STEM education, U.S. Satellite has teamed up with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) in a breakthrough partnership. HMH will lead its STEM professional development with NASA's Endeavor STEM Teaching Certificate Project. Not just for science educators, but inclusive of math, technology and others in STEM content areas in K-12, the new offering allows school districts to bring on an educator, or a cohort of educators, to effectively infuse STEM pedagogical strategies into the classroom. At the same time it allows school districts to purchase effective STEM professional development.
Focusing on pedagogical content knowledge will yield more engaging, inspiring lessons. Designed to blend in with standards-based curriculum in classrooms, U.S. Satellite and HMH are looking toward training hundreds of new educators.
Plans are underway in 2012 for U.S. Satellite to lead a series of national STEM webcasts for HMH. School districts looking for ways to get their foot in the door with STEM have a strong new option.
